A Florida man faces several felony charges after allegedly beating and dragging a pregnant woman through the streets, police say.
Jean Washington, 37, was booked on Jan. 18, for the charge of violating sex offender registration requirements and was formally arrested Monday for the incident reported by his intimate partner, a complaint obtained from the Miami-Dade Police Department shows.
According to the arrest report, the two had been in a relationship for more than two years and she is three months pregnant with his child. On the morning of Jan. 8, a domestic violence case against Washington had been opened, the affidavit states.

Pregnant victim punched repeatedly and dragged through street
Later that day, Washington was driving past the corner of an intersection in Miami and spotted the victim standing there. According to the arrest report, Washington exited the vehicle and approached the woman, saying "why you called the police and putting charges you...better call them and drop them you know I'm on papers!"
The affidavit states he then punched the victim in the face repeatedly and "dragged her through the streets" before fleeing the scene.
Washington has been charged with violating sex offender registration requirements, aggravated battery of a pregnant person, witness tampering and battery with two or more prior convictions. He is being held at a Miami-Dade County jail. Bond for several of the charges has yet to be set as of Tuesday morning. The public defender listed as his attorney did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment.
